To raise funds in support of Caritas Hong Kong’s social services and to deepen public awareness of its humanitarian mission, the "Run with Love – Caritas Friends Charity Run 2026" was held on 1 February 2026 at the Hong Kong Science Park. Organized by Friends of Caritas and co-organized by the Chong Gene Hang College Athletics Club, this inaugural event drew over 2,200 participants who ran together in a shared spirit of compassion and hope.
The opening ceremony was officiated by a lineup of distinguished guests, including Mr. Paul Chan, GBM,GBS,MH,JP, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government; Cardinal Stephen Chow, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong; Father Joseph Yim, Chief Executive of Caritas Hong Kong; and Ms. Theresa Ng, MH, JP, Chairperson of Friends of Caritas, all of whom offered their heartfelt encouragement and blessings to the runners.
The event featured 10Km and 5Km races that were officially recognised by the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA), together with 3Km and 1Km categories. It drew participants from elite runners to families with children, groups of friends , and teams from running clubs, schools, companies, and organisations. They all started from the Hong Kong Science Park, and ran an out-and-back route along Pak Shek Kok Promenade, to spread love through participation in a sport activity. The event drew competitive runners as well as families and runners from pre school aged to the active elderly, some of whom travelled from the outlying islands for a morning of exercise and fun.
Riding on last year’s success, "Run with Love – Caritas Friends Charity Run 2027" is coming back on 31 January 2027 at the Hong Kong Science Park, raising funds for Caritas Hong Kong’s social work, education, and medical services. We are inviting everyone to join in again, support the good cause, and live out the spirit of "Run for Love, Run for Hope" – so more people in need can get the help they deserve.
See you all on 31 January 2027!
